Easy ways to protect your iPhone
- Slider cases: One of the first accessories any iPhone owner should buy is a slider case. These sleek shells, usually made of plastic, act as a protective casing for the backside of your phone. They’re less than 1mm in thickness, making this add-on barely noticeable in both the weight and bulk department. Slider cases help prevent scratches and their interior rubber guardrails are excellent at shock/impact absorption.
- Anti-glare film: To protect your screen as well as your eyes, applying a thin layer of anti-glare film on your iPhone’s screen is an easy add-on. Many iPhone owners recommend using a credit card (or something similar) when applying the film, to make sure it goes on without any bubbles. Ant-glare film is also known as “crystal film,” and both are great at preventing fingerprints on your screen as well.
- Full-body wrap film: If putting film on your screen isn’t enough protection in your book, full-body wrap film is also available for the extra cautious iPhone owner. This full-body film keeps your iPhone looking new for quite some time, making the minimal investment worth it. Full-body wrap film is also great for iPhone owners who feel slider cases are too bulky.
- Universal dock: A lot of damages that occur to iPhones happen when they’re charging. To keep your device safe as it charges and to prevent needless damages, a universal dock is a great way to go (albeit a bit of an investment). This charging station keeps your iPhone in an upright position so you’ll remember where your phone is (and not accidentally damage it).
- Prevent your device from overheating: Many iPhone owners have complained of their devices from overheating, especially from buyers who live in warmer climates. Apple recommends keeping your device in the 32 - 95 degree temperature range and to avoid using it in direct sunlight. A good rule of thumb is to never leave your phone in the car (or anywhere with an unstable temp) and to avoid using the GPS tracking app if it’s too sunny out. And remember, a dim display and/or a weak cellular signal may be a sign that your device is attempting to regulate its temperature, so turn it off and let it cool down.
- Avoid carrying your device in your pocket: Whether its coins, keys or whatever else you may have in your pocket, if you keep your iPhone in your pocket long enough it will get scratched (especially if you haven’t bought a case or protective film).
- Lost your phone? There’s never a need to fret if you’ve misplaced your phone. Apple’s Mobile Me service helps find your device by utilizing the GSP chip in your phone. Getting to the phone may be tricky (in case of theft), but at least you’ll know where it is (as long as the GPS chip is still installed that is).
